Head Covering

A HEAD COVERING

I have decide to wear a head covering.
Lol I know I lot of people who read my blog are
probably shacking there heads but I feel called by my Lord to
wear one, and I am not one to say no to God.
I have spend almost a year reading and studying and praying about this.

I will simply give the verse in the bible to why I
am choosing to wear one.
1 Corinthians 11: 1-16

I will also copy a blog I read about head coverings.

“Here is a simple way to explain 1 Corinthians 11

When you look at the original Greek, its meaning is quite clear. Two words for covering were turned into one when translated to English.
The reason for wearing the covering, is because of the Fall. Eve usurped her role. From that point on, a womans Natural glory had to be covered when she communed with God. A women covers so she may take her God given place when she is before the throne praying, and when she is witnessing to others. The angels see this, even those that are fallen, and marvel at the obedience shown to God.”

"The wearing of fabric head coverings in worship was universally the practice of Christian women until the twentieth century. What happened? Did we suddenly find some biblical truth to which the saints for thousands of years were blind? Or were our biblical views of women gradually eroded by the modern feminist movement that has infiltrated the Church of Jesus Christ which is "the pillar and ground of the truth"
Galatians is a powerful polemic against the Judaizers who were trying to draw the churches of Galatia away from salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
Paul wrote to correct two errors: Do you have to become a Jew before you can be saved? The second error was, "If Christ has set us free, then we can live as we please!"
He demonstrates clearly the only way sinful man can stand before a holy God is by God’s grace made available through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We are saved by grace through faith in Christ alone, and we are also sanctified by grace through faith (3:3). The Judaizers taught that works was necessary for salvation and sanctification. It was a religion based on legalism. Someone said, "Judaism was the cradle of Christianity and very nearly its grave."

I left a comment already but realized it was kinda harsh and unclear so please delete it - hopefully this is more clear.

I think it's fantastic that you are obeying God in this way because He has asked you to do this.

What I disagree with is in the post you copy/pasted from the other blog where they talk about not wearing a head covering being part of a feminist movement. I grew up in a cult/church that used verses like this one to surpress and abuse women to extremes. What the bloggers and my old church fail to read is verses 14 and 15 where it says that men should not have long hair because long hair is a woman's glory and is her head covering.

So - I think it's fantastic that you are following God's lead - just please, don't forget that verses 14 & 15 exist - and be careful that you don't make other women feel like they are less holy if they choose not to wear an additional head covering other then their hair.

crystal, i'm not affented and iam not trying to affented any women. i dont think woman have to wear a head covering at all to be closer to God. i wear it because of 1 corinth 11: 10 (for this reason, and because of the Angels, the woman ought to have a sing of authority on her head.) and in 16 it says that that the chruch of God will do no other practice (then to have woman wear one) but we don't have to.

another reason i am wearing it is because i know that in the past like 70 years, people feel its ok to pick and chose what they want to do and follow in the bible, that some things aren't really for our time and age. and i think thats just not true.
i dont think things are in the bible just to read, i think that if it tells us to do something (other then something Jesus told us we dont need to do any more.)
then we should.

My dearest girl....
I too grew up in a cult that forced women to wear head coverings when praying.
After research I found this is not something that God says we must do as it was a Jewish law and custom back in the day.

To partake in wearing the head dress would have to be a personal decision one makes, and no one should be offended of the choices one makes, or does not make on such matters...like if a woman chooses to shave her head for what ever reason, or to circumcise or not to circumcise, or eating meat or, working on the sabbath... Could this be the legalism that Paul spoke about???

...But you must realize that this was only a Jewish custom back in the day, not a requirement from God. The apostle Paul is saying in verse 16 there is no such custom that the church must follow.

Regarding 1 Corinthians 10:16 Dake's Annotated Reference Bible notes "Paul makes it plain that there is no such set law or custom governing such in the churches".

People will misinterpret scripture regarding head coverings and make what is clearly just a Jewish custom into a "you must do this because it says so".

1 Colossians 2:8 talks about the traditions of men.Traditions and customs are the same thing..."See to it that no one carries you off with such traditions/customs"

Remember this is your blog and you have the right to write what ever you like and speak your heart on what ever subject you like....even if some one (like me) doesn't agree with your subject matter.
You can never "make anyone feel" guilty for your personal opinions.
Just be sure you have all the facts, and are properly informed.
Post this if you wish or dont...I wont be offended...

love ya so much

I am Leaving This comment under my Wifes name, cause I don't have a account of my own, and I'm not much for blogging. As For what she is doing, I agree completely with her because sh is my better half. As for what the bible says, and how God has been speaking to her, its ammazing that she is able to do as God has told her to do, even when her family doesn't support her. I for one have chosen to stand behind her in the decissions she is doing to walk closer to God. She knew from the beginning that the people commenting on this would comment on it the way they have.

Love You Heather!
from your husband :)
